Ibis

The hurricane came and went

The Ibis steps back out

Into the world in search of food

To recover all the discarded parts

Of its body that got swept into the wind

And all the used scraps, left behind

What's been cast aside as debris

Can be the birds home, at least for now

Until the season ends

Until the calm waves return

And with its patchwork complete

Ready to take flight again
