Blackout

Another blackout in the slums

The stars would be visible if not

For our punishment from Astraeus

Stumbling through the alleys

Grasping at the walls for guidance

Your eyes lit a path to an exit

Eyes blessed with bioluminescence

As I followed,

The sun flickered, bright enough to

Lighten this other half of the world

And just as fast as it surged

It disappeared, a final gasp

But in that fraction of time

I saw the blood on your edge of your lips

And the trap that lay ahead of me

As spores of black mold took root within me

Manipulating me to continue forward

To be the next sacrifice
